Katharine “Kathy” Hamilton is a mother two children and active in her community. She is a certified public accountant licensed in Maryland, experience and a depth of knowledge in international corporate finance.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from the University of Rochester and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business with concentrations in finance and international business.
In her professional career with Honeywell International Inc. (formerly AlliedSignal Corporation) and The Seagram Company, Katharine provided financial evaluations and due diligence to inform corporate transactions. This included economic and risk evaluations of overseas markets, financial instrument analysis, and oversight of global proprietary trading in commodities and foreign exchange markets.
Motivated by a desire to serve her community, Katharine declared her candidacy for College’s Board of Trustees in 2013. After winning election in April 2013, she provided a consistent voice for local taxpayers.
After backing a “Clean Slate” of reform candidates to victory in April 2015, Katharine was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees. During her nine-month tenure as Chairman, she helped to spearhead the passage of sweeping measures to address the wide-ranging federal, state, criminal and administrative investigations that had plagued the College.
Today, Katharine volunteers her time with various charities, including as treasurer of the Salt Creek Ballet in Westmont, IL, and the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Metropolitan Chicago. She also plays violin for the Salt Creek Chamber Orchestra.
